When There's A Steep Learning Curve

July 10, 2018

How do you treat yourself when you're facing a big challenge?

- When you’re scared to take the next step and aren’t sure how it’s going to turn out...

- When you hesitate, stumble, get all tangled up and turned around...

- When you fall asleep at the thought of all you have to accomplish...

- When you are wearing a cone of shame around your head...

- When you go completely off the deep end...

- When you just want to whimper and cry in hopes that someone/something magical will fix it...

Take a moment and watch this:

If, in those trying moments, you would pull back enough to get some perspective and higher vision, you’d see just how insanely loveable you are!

Whether you are having a corgi moment – where it seems you were not built for scaling such heights, or you are like a triumphant pug, boundlessly springing forward like it’s no big deal -  you are equally worthy of your encouragement, support and love!

So when you invent your own weird ways of doing things - celebrate!

When you take hard knocks and get right back up, acknowledge your determination, give yourself that, “Come, on…there ya go!” -  or the heartfelt,“Ohhh Nooo!” after you face-plant.

When things feel ridiculously hard in that initial learning stage, laugh at the hilarity of it all.

You do not need to be rescued.

Your power to stay through your clumsiness will lead to your sure-footedness.

And you will surely gain more confidence and skill by summoning your fun, empathetic, inspiring inner voice than calling in that bitter, vicious inner drill sergeant who only has the cheap tools of fear and shame to drive change.
